Artist talk: Alice Slyngstad (Sykkylven/Amsterdam)

Visual artist Alice Slyngstad pays Møre og Romsdal Kunstsenter a visit this evening, to present their latest work, to tell more about their background and connection to their hometown Sykkylven-

The work of Alice treds a line between installation and performance, and with text, vocals and with different processes with sound, they deal with themes such as presence and performativity. The voice is a central element of their practice, and they will talk about a multitude of ways in which the voice materializes and how they deal with this material in their works.

Alice Slyngstad (b. 1990, NO) lives and works in Sykkylven and Amsterdam. She graduated from the Sandberg Instituut in Amsterdam and the Oslo National Academy of the Arts. Recent exhibitions include GOODIE BAGS at the Degentrificeringskontoret, Stockholm; Palmera, Bergen and at HetHEM, Zaandam (all 2021). Their performances have been shown at festivals and institutions such as Bodø Biennale, Bodø (2020); EYE Film Museum, Amsterdam (2020); Kunstnernes Hus, Oslo (2020); Les Urbaines, Lausanne (2019); and the National Museum, Oslo (2017).

This artist talk is a part of an event series at Møre and Romsdal Kunstsenter, where visual artists, musicians, writers and other artists and arts practitioners will share their work and thoughts.

The event will be held in Norwegian.
