Karianne Stensland

Karianne Stensland (b. 1969) artistic work spans over a wide variety of medias and techniques. She is perhaps best knowns for her video and performance work. She has a master’s degree from Trondheim Academy of Fine Art, and she has also studied at Saint Petersburg State Theatre Arts Academy and Nordland Art and Film School in Kabelvåg. From 2002 to 2007 she was part of the artist group High Heel Sisters, which was a collaboration between Karianne Stensland, Anna Linder, Malin Arnell and Line S. Karlström.
Her work has been presented at many museums, art halls and galleries in Norway and internationally, including Trondheim Kunsthall, the Royal British Society of Sculptors, Kunstbanken Hedmark 2020 and most recently at the Norwegian National Museum’s opening exhibition in 2022 and in the exhibition “Above lies the future” at Kunstnerforbundet where she has her studio. In 2014, she was awarded a 10-year Government Grants for Artists, from the Arts Council Norway.
