CAN- Concerned Artists Norway
True to Nature

The project constitutes an investigation of what the term decolonialization of nature can mean. The various contributions in the exhibition are all based on the theme: Decolonizing nature.

What does it mean? What could it mean? What does it mean to be true to nature?

The health threat from the coronavirus is inseparable from the threat of extinction, and the threat resulting from the loss of biological diversity. These emergencies are rooted in a mechanistic, militaristic, anthropocentric, worldview that regards humans as separate from and superior to other beings. Beings we can own, manipulate and control.

In 2021, CAN published the eco-art anthology NATURTRO – about decolonizing nature.

The exhibition is partly based on the visual works from the book and can be seen as an artistic response to the crisis nature, including humans, is now facing, and contains images, videos and objects by Thora Solveig Bergsteinsdottir, Tone Bjordam, Ingrid Book & Carina Hedén,Guri Guri Henriksen, Liv Nome, Thora Solveig Bergsteinsdottir, Brita Skybak , Hildegunn Guroplass Solbø og Siri Harr Steinvik.
